Mental Health Counseling
Mental Health Counseling is a process by which the therapist and client work together to achieve the client's goals through the use of therapeutic techniques. Counseling may be individual or include your family members. Parents are encouraged to participate when the client is a child, but play and art therapy can be useful when working with children one-on-one. Counseling groups are also helpful for a variety of concerns and provide a client with additional support and allow them to be a support for others. Counseling is most effective when the client and therapist establish a strong and trusting working relationship.
Cognitive-behavioral counseling is a common form of therapy which helps clients become mindful of their thought patterns, replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts in order to achieve more positive feelings about one's self, one's future, and the world. Interpersonal process therapy explores a client's interpersonal interactions with others and helps the client adopt more beneficial ways of interacting with others to achieve their goals. Attachment therapy focuses on positive and stable relationships with others as the foundation for healthy development. Attachment therapy also focuses on our relationship with ourselves, and developing the skills to re-parent yourself in a supportive and loving way helps heal past traumas. Jennifer believes full healing is possible, and can usually be attained through natural means. Most symptoms stem from traumatic experiences, and if one is ready to heal the root cause of their issues by engaging in trauma work, clients can achieve their goals.
